Help! My hair is falling out, it's dry and brittle and has no shine. I have curly hair, medium length.?

I'm very healthy, I eat mostly organic, take vitamins etc. I'm 48 with no signs of menopause. I'm energetic, my skin and nails are great. Over the last several months I've tried many different types of hair products, either professional products or from the health food store. Lately I just use organic shampoo and conditioner (no styling products) and I'm trying not to mess with my hair i.e. wash it or comb it too often. I only comb it in the shower with conditioner on it. I use no heat on my hair, only some sunshine.Help! My hair is falling out, it's dry and brittle and has no shine. I have curly hair, medium length.?

FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

Tension

Too much work

Illness

Poor diet

Over-exposure to the sun

Perming

Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.Help! My hair is falling out, it's dry and brittle and has no shine. I have curly hair, medium length.?
Sounds like your hair is way to dry. While wet put in some CHI that you can get at a salon. Its a silk oil infusion. Also ask a stylist about this new shampoo for weak hair.
well they same thing happened to me and the stylest said it could be because of split ends or dry hair there is this shampoo aussie i pretty sure youve heard of it its great!!!!!
are you or have you been under stress? you could also be putting too much protein in your hair. this makes it hard and brittle. also you can try the nioxin shampoo and conditioner, it helps to regrow hair. if you buy it at your local salon and don't like it you can take it bak and get your money. also for the dry and britteness, you can try the all soft shampoo and conditioner by redken. its wonderful. i would go to your local salon and talk with a stylist face to face so she can question you and put her hands in your hair. watch out for the ones that are just after a check though, they will try to sell you all sorts of things you don't need, if they don't mention one of the products that i have, walk out and go to the next salon, cuz they are just after a check and don't really care about your hair. hope this helps

How to style thick, frizzy, curly hair (medium length)???

To make your hair look shiny and healthy, buy mousse and work through the hair beginning at the scalp and ending at the ends. Then twirl sections of the hair for a spiral look. How to style thick, frizzy, curly hair (medium length)???
Scrunch it with a curl defining cream or gel.

Or straighten it, but that may take a while.

If you're lazy in the morning a ponytail will do, or just leave it down scrunched and pull back your bangs or a section of hair in the front of your head. How to style thick, frizzy, curly hair (medium length)???
I usually flat iron mine everyday....they have some really good heat protectant sprays that keep it from going frizzy during the day
well if you wanna spend the money to get it cut, they have special scissors that they can use to thin your hair, and you can get layers..... and then straighten it!!!

i had the same problem and it helped lots!!! (and if your hair is staticky after you straighten it then put a LITTLE hand lotion on your hands, rub it in and then just pat your hands where frizzy, and comb out
i have like the same type of hair...i usually scrunch it or straighten it
scrunch it is one way

  • What kind of haircut would you suggest for someone with curly hair, medium barrel-ish, that helps the triangle?

you've seen curly headed girls who have the heavy on bottom, flat on top, triangle looking hairstyle...

do you know what i could tell my hair stylist to get rid of this problem?

do layers, thinning, shaping, or what work?

i always ask them to do something to get rid of the triangle-ness, but they never get it right.

i'm going to try someone new this time, so what could i tell them? What kind of haircut would you suggest for someone with curly hair, medium barrel-ish, that helps the triangle?
You need to get your hair layered. That prevents the triangle shape. If you've had it layered before, then ask for more dramatic layers. That way the hair doesn't all end at the same level to make that shape. What kind of haircut would you suggest for someone with curly hair, medium barrel-ish, that helps the triangle?
a blunt cut with curly hair will always look this way unless you take time to blow dry and even then, no guarantees. you would need layers, but you need someone who really knows how to cut curly hair.

What hair st lye suits for short wavy /curly hair medium density?

my hair is wavy, shoulder length curly hair. but my face is stlight heavy face. what hair style suits me.i normally put short pony tail as the density of the hair is medium. What hair st lye suits for short wavy /curly hair medium density?
I would try to grow it out but first get layers that frame your face. try googleing hair styles that you likeWhat hair st lye suits for short wavy /curly hair medium density?
straighten your hair down and then get side bangs with light layers and then if you want- pull your hair back in a half pony with a clip :]

also try to go and buy a little bottle of mousse-- i have curl life mousse-- and pull it into damp hair with some gel and let it dry :] your curls will look really pretty :]

    hope I helped!
    TRY LAYERED HAIR

    TRY AN UPSIDE-DOWN BUN
the best is to let your hair down it really shows your waves

Any old fashioned hair style ideas?

I don't mean in terms of texture (waves, curls, etc.)

I mean easy hair styles like ponytails, hair pulled back at the crown, pig tails, etc.

I have naturally super straight long hair and have no time to heat style it with my schedule. So I just wanna leave it natural and work with my straight hair.

Just an FYI I don't like layers. I personally prefer to keep my hair all one length. (It's pretty thick and looks terrible with layers.) I'm also not really into bangs either. It's a ery simple cut.

Any ideas welcome!Any old fashioned hair style ideas?
what about a french plaitAny old fashioned hair style ideas?
You sound like me a couple years back. I am a straight hair person too. Well I finally went shoulder length, and shaped nicely around my face no bangs. Not layers but a little different lengths for volume. I blow dry upside down. I've had many compliments looks like I'm styling it now where always just looked plain before. Hope this helps, I'm older too and cutting it made me look younger. Good Luck!
you looking for different ways to put your hair up?

try loose pig tails, and twist your hair back threw the bobble bit

    that sounds complicated

but tie the pigtail, the tread the pigtail behind the bobble

you will get a kind of knot/twist

    it looks really goods

    or plaits?
when you straighten your hair you should turn the straightner in at the ends so it sweeps inwards towards your face

please return favour and awnser my question :)
Make a PUFF on the top of your head, i seem to have the same hair as you and it works for me =]
how bout a side swept fringe....and the rest of hair braided normally or a french braid...
big fluffy whirly buns with curls on the side

    Old-fashioned hair style help?

Okay, so for spirit week at my school, we're having a ';Blast from the Past'; day. So I'm using some of my mom's old absolutely ginormous glasses. I wanted to attempt to do my hair in some crazy oldies style with super volume or an insanely puffed out bun, but I really have no idea how to do these hair styles. So if anyone could either explain, send links / pictures, or suggest other hairstyles, I'd be super happy.

    Thanks! :)Old-fashioned hair style help?
You could do your hair like Sarah Palin's. It's a little old-fashioned but attractive all the same because of the bangs. Or pull all your hair up to the top of our head, fasten with a hair elastic, and twist it into an old-lady-schoolteacher bun right at the top of your head. You'll need a handful of really long, strong hairpins, plus a few bobby pins and some hair spray to corral the wisps near your neckline.

    [HAIR]

First, you should part your hair about to the middle of your eyebrow. Then you take a curling iron and curl the front of your hair going back. For the rest of your hair, you should just curl the ends kind of spirally.

    [CLOTHES]

You could get away with skinny jeans and a simple shirt with some cute bangles and earrings and for shoes, a cute simple flat or if its cold where you are too a nice little flat boot...

that's what I usually wear to class...

ADULTS%26amp;TEENS - fashion, hair, style help, plzzzzzz?
just curl your hair part it to the left and fluff it abit
Well I'm not a stylist, but I guess you could try to straighten the top and then hairspray it in place, then maybe lightly curl the bottom and brush it out a little until there is just a little curl left.

What makes ghey men better at decorating, fashion, hair styling etc. ?

ive noticed that most of the men on tv shows like queer eye, ANTM, oprah, tyra, extreme makeover etc. that work in these areas are ghey.

like oprah has the decorator nate and her hair stylist reggie and they're ghey. and the fashion and hair ppl on extreme makeover too.

its like you ppl have a special gene or something? What makes ghey men better at decorating, fashion, hair styling etc. ?
Quit using the term GHEY. It's GAY. It's our word, and you can't change it just because you like to use the word gay to mean lame (which has it's origins in homophobia). What makes ghey men better at decorating, fashion, hair styling etc. ?
    You can't lump everyone together...

But as for your inquiry, those that are and do, do so because they see things more through the eyes, and perspective of a woman as versus macho male swines..

Style, and fashion and good looking hair are not male ';things'; - as far as they're concerned as long as they don't wear their underwear for more than two days in a row, and have a beer to drink, they have things ';made';..

    Rachelle In High Heels
ummmm no....it has nothing to do with the genes....it has to do with the brain supposedly....like the right side of the brain is more ';dominate'; if u will...and its the more creative side while the left side is the side that helps people with stuff like math, science...etc....

but this is very stereotypical and 100% not true...there r TONS of gays that rnt very creative....but....i am creative...kinda ironic...i think.... :PPPP

    oh ya....thats right...last time i looked Ghey up in the dictonary it said ';a guy who has sex with another guy....and its effin hot';

....thats wat it said! dont look at me! O.o
I know many straight men who are great at decorating. I know many gay men who are great at decorating. I am not sure that proportionately, there are more of one than another, but what I do know is that Straight men do not talk about decorating as much as gay men do...that may be the real difference....not sure. Same holds true with hair.
There are many straight famous male hair dressers and decorators.

The media likes to portray all men who work in these areas as gay, but that is not always the case.

You just need to open your mind a little bit.
Troll troll troll troll troll troll don't care if I get another violation troll troll troll troll troll you're a **** troll troll troll troll troll troll troll troll boooooooring troll troll troll troll troll troll troll.
    It isn't specificly them.

Its just like any other person.

Its being good at something you love.

Not all gay guys can style hair,

some can't even dress themselves, it depends on the person.

    Stop stereotyping, k?:]
    You are wrong.

There are gay men in all walks of life.

    I run a lumber store.

There are also great straight chefs, and barbers etc.
    it depends on the person

oh and its GAY that ghey your typing is throwing me off a little
Perhaps it's their innate good taste.
Please forgive for asking a stupid question, but what is a ';Ghey man';?

Why are there so many people with tattoos in the fashion & hair styling industry?

Because the industry is creative and tattoos arent frowned upon in a buisness situation many employers want you to hide your tattoos. i guess so you dont stand out more than any other worker. Why are there so many people with tattoos in the fashion %26amp; hair styling industry?
Just a theory, but I'd guess that those in the beauty/fashion industry have (what seems to be) more tattoos because they are creative, artsy people who are exercising their freedom of expression. I dwell in that portion of the population myself, and that is why I like tattoos! Why are there so many people with tattoos in the fashion %26amp; hair styling industry?
Because, The industry is all about creativity...Not everyone is going to look 'Professional' in a Creative industry.
Because tattoos are ';in'; these days, they are everywhere, not just in that industry.
Because tatoos and fashion/hairstyles are both a form of self expression. If they are interested in one, chances are they are interested in the other, since they both allow you to express yourself through image.
because they like the creativity? or maybe just because they like tattoos.

it's a creative industry. you aren't forced to conform to anything so people can be themselves

Am i really that bad to look at? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
i read in one one of my british weekly fashion magazines that there are 3 new hairstyles to try out (that are currently on the european catwalks) for 2009 but the other 2 are very high maintenance so i'd recommend this one:

    ';soft waves'; : how to:

    1) turn your head upside down as you dry your hair (with hairdryer) and ruffle at the roots of the hair as you dry to create width and body

    2) curl hair with big barrel tongs (hair curler) and curl from the roots downwards

    3) brush hair right after curling to loosen the curls and make it more softer.

    nope

what some white people would be scared of are most rappers who look like they just came out of prison(which I dont blame them for, I would too). but as far as afros go, never. besides they were famous during the disco era anyway

Well, I'm a black person and the only hairstyle than intimidates me a little is when a black person get's braids.
you mean white kids, asian kids etc.. are afraid of that thing.

white men are not that scared. they are older and realized that its not a monster on your head, its hair
    No.

    I live in Los Angeles.

I need help with an afro hair style.?

i have natural afro hair.i've always wanted to wear my hair as an afro but i dont like the way it shrinks when it rains or when its humid, especially beacause Ilive in england where its always raining. is there a treatment i can do to the hair to make the curls bigger more manageable without relaxing it but so that it doesnt become kinky when it touches water.I need help with an afro hair style.?
yeah you can get it texturized.

people used it back in the days its still big.

its some thing that softens the curls in your hair, and makes them it bit looser,

you can get it done at home you can go to the pak store and get home texturizing kits,

but its mre difficult to apply then relaxer becasue if you do it wrong it will come out to straight.

so i think you should go to the hairdressers so they texturize it for you, it will come out looking so nice, i rate you for having an afro.I need help with an afro hair style.?
i use various products from the soft fro range they are brilliant i have had no problem with my hair looking kinda wierd ever since
by afro do you mean like a big frizzy poof?then get a pic.

    orrr..?????
    buy Paul Mitchell Mouse

i know that stores in america sell this
Before pickin' it out spray with a comb out spray and then pick it then spray with an oil sheen. You can also apply a hair dressing to your hair to avoid humidity.
plesae don't use sprits on your hair, it's sticky and it will tangle up you hair when you pick of comb it; when it rains it will leave your hair in a bad mess. Maybe you can cover your hair or wrap it when you know it is going to rain or you could wear a nice hat or cover your fro with a hood on the rainy days.
I cant answer you... but cool... a real life pimp... get a purple suit and had... respect dude!!! lol im from brighton... lol

Copy Sanjaya's hairstyle, he's Indian like you.
You could try getting a perm...that's about the only thing I can think of. Or let someone cornrow your hair and then take them out after about a day and your hair will be curly.
EW. YOU DID A LINK TO SANJAYA. EWWWW

Do you think the ';Afro'; hair style is cool?

I think that afros are really cool... but most people i've asked said they are ugly.. is this true?Do you think the ';Afro'; hair style is cool?
Not only is it cool, it is classic. I once went to an island, Martinique, all the women were tall and willowy looking and 99% of them had short afro haircuts, they looked gorgeous. Just keep it neat and don't let it get too large, that looks weird.Do you think the ';Afro'; hair style is cool?
dude, afro's are the bomb man. im like half thai and indian, and i have a natural afro. so yeah, i gotta go for the fro.

    They're are ugly no offense!
If you are african, it is cool. If not sorry..
I think that it's just a matter of opinion. It doesn' t matter what anyone else thinks....if you like it then do it. That's all that matters!
I love Afros. Only if they cut even, sprayed with an oil sheen to give it a nice shine and if it's combed correctly.
Very cool! I know some guys that have naturals and all the girls want to feel their hair. I think most people think it is cool, as long as you have the confidence to pull it off.
dosent matter what the hair style is, if it suits the person then its ******* cool.

march to the beat of your own drum.

anyway i think afros are well good!
no not cool in my book
I like the ';Afro'; look. I think it will always be in style. My little boy wears a curly afro and it's adorable on him. On a man, I think it's cute....sexy on some. As long as he wears it nice and not sloppy, combed and lined nice around the edges, he would have me noticing. And some ladies know how to sport the Afro's too, specially if she's cute, wears her clothes and makeup well, and carries herself with that air of confidence, I'd have to give her her props.
I rock my curly fro with pride. It's very freeing.
It suits some guys, but some guys look terrible with them.

Only dark-skinned guys should try afros, because light skinned guys look weird with afros.

I want to go in for an Afro Hair style. Does it need a lot of maintenance?

    in my experience,yes.

If you wish to keep it neat. Now if yours is a short cropped type Afro, perhaps then it can be relatively easy..to maintain.

Mine is a medium length and I have to shampoo it frequently if I want it to look nice.I want to go in for an Afro Hair style. Does it need a lot of maintenance?
    no not really

  • Is a large afro hair style ok to wear when looking for a job?

No matter what the job is you want to try to look as professional as possible. I would use your own judgment on whether you think your style is professional. If you do then great. If you don't then try to style it another way. Good luck in your job search! Is a large afro hair style ok to wear when looking for a job?
No because you want to look professional when looking for a job. You don't want the employer to look at you and say ';Sorry I can't hire you because of your hair.'; You don't want that at all.Is a large afro hair style ok to wear when looking for a job?
i think it is. it shows you are an individual and have your own style xo
i guess... as long as it's not all over the place

    Afro hair styles. helpp?

hello, I have about four inches.

it's like a teeny weeny afro.

if you know what that is.

it looks a bit like this, but a bit longer. http://images115.fotki.com/v665/photos/6鈥?/a>

anyways, I was thinking of relaxing it, but I'm not sure if my hairs long enough to be relaxed. and I'm not sure how in will look in the end once it's relaxed. so does anyone have any pictures of short relaxed hair? and is my hair long enough to be relaxed?Afro hair styles. helpp?
Your hair is long enough to be relaxed. You would just need to make sure you don't leave it on for too long, otherwise it'll get so straight that you can curl it or anything. You may want to try a mild relaxer or kiddie relaxer if it has been a while since you've relaxed your hair. As far as short hair styles go, the most I would think of for your length of hair is maybe finger waves. Or you can add tracks of hair to achieve the Toni Braxton/T-Boz/Halle Berry cut. Or, instead of relaxing it, add a texturizer instead. That would look pretty.

    Natural afro hair styles?

My hair is about four or five inches long and naturally grows as a very curly afro. I braid it at night to make it bigger during the day but I don't want to always just have a plain afro. What other styles can I do with my hair? I don't want anything straightened or any kind of relaxer, just different styles using an afro.Natural afro hair styles?
You should used Kinky Curly Curling Custard. All you do is twist your hair with the custard and leave it in overnight, or blow dry it. Then remove the twist and your hair is curly. It's a little pricey but my friend uses it. It works and smells nice.Natural afro hair styles?
The only thing you can really do is put different hair bands in and probably gel it in some way.
    dredlocks

Flat top hair cut(aka military school style)

big puff ball on the back

    White girl afro hair styles?

I'm giving my friend a makeover (its a girl) and she has a blond afro. She is really pretty, but I don't know what to do with her hair. Any advice?White girl afro hair styles?
I bet shes cute, leave her hair the way it is, just trim it a little.

Don't try to change someones hair, it's what makes a person different from other people, specially if it is her natural hair.

When a person has straight hair and changes it to Afro, that's unnatural and not right at all.

I hate it when white girls do unnatural things to their hair, like put green or blue color in it or put dread locks in their hair it's disgusting.White girl afro hair styles?
Straighten it, I honestly have never seen a blonde afro.
    Put a mouse in it.

Afro hair styles suggest please helpfull advice?

i wanna have a different hair style i am sick to death of putting it in a pony tail all the time i need looks that are easy to do.

if it helps my hair is naturally straight kinky hair and is sholder length.

P.S you can suggest types of plaits or braiding but i dont really like to braid or plait may hairAfro hair styles suggest please helpfull advice?
have you heard of kinky twists?

well yeah they are kinda like braids that look like dreadlocks. on average they stay in for two and a half months, but if you keep them healthy like me, you can keep them three and a half tops. you can use your real hair or add extensions. they are usually curled at the bottom. i just love them. but they are hard to do without a real stylist. (the people who do mine are usually african) and if you already know what they are, i just wasted my time. ;)Afro hair styles suggest please helpfull advice?
Curl it or get extensions, Cut it or get layers or a fridge or grow it long..x
